Underwater the Puget Sound is actually much more beautiful than this. I just got tired of drawing so many repetitive seaplants and moon jellies. I thought that cold-water diving would be nowhere near as magical as diving a coral reef, but I was wrong, it’s just a whole other wonderful alien world.
We felt pretty badass diving in wetsuits on Halloween – there were other divers at the beach but they all had drysuits, like little loser babies. At least we felt badass until we realized we hadn’t brought any towels. As we got into the car we were shivering and pale with blue lips and I thought we should head straight to a Halloween party because we would make pretty convincing vampires. Or hypothermia victims.
Once went diving in a small Maine sound as snow fell, in a wet suit as well and had a similarly beautiful, blue-lipped experience. Lovely drawing, H. Of all the “secrets” of the life, this one most caught me by surprise.

Thanks, Oliver! Diving when it’s snowing is a whole other level of amazing. I’m glad you didn’t freeze irreparably.
That was super fun!
